This makes life dangerously addicting.

Why you shouldn't "focus on one thing".

Most people feel stuck.

Always the same routine. No fun.

And I've noticed:

Miserable people have one thing in common: Wins are extremely rare for them.

They never get the dopamine of succeeding. Of working for something and getting it.

They lack W's in their life.

So they return to their comfort zone and stick to the things they're good at.

No progress.

No new shit.

No wins.

Just the same old thing, again and again.

The hyperfocus-lie

You've heard it. You've probably done it. But its's bullshit.

“jUsT fOcUs oN oNe tHinG aNd sTiCk tO yOur niChE bRo…”

And while that maybe helps you reach some goals a bit faster, it's not actually helping you in general.

Having long periods without random wins will rob you of the fun and drive for something.

This is the real thing capping your success.

You're not a robot made for one thing and one thing only.

You're a man.

You’re built to explore, test, create and master shit just because you can.

Sitting around waiting for the "perfect" thing to do is stupid.

And when you've mastered one thing while ignoring everything else?

You just became extremely fragile.

If one thing breaks down, you're fucked.

A man should be well-versed in everything.

  • Social skills

  • Fitness

  • Intellectuality

  • Repairing motors

  • Building things from wood

  • Fighting

  • Magic tricks

  • Using a chainsaw

This list goes on and on. And one after another, you can learn all the things on it.

You can become a capable man.

Now how do we start?

Skillmaxxing: Start Xp farming

You're a video game character. With every new skill you acquire you gain XP.

You get more valuable.

It's the same in real life too: You can't have enough skills.

Every new skill stacked on all the other ones will only make you more powerful.

Think about James Bond:

Bond can fly airplanes, helicopters, he can drive extremely well, he can get into any house, he has elite social skills, can fight, can shoot, can sprint, can lift heavy and so on.

He's a well-versed man with skills in every domain of human endeavor.

That makes him extremely adaptable and flexible, because no matter what random thing comes, he always knows how to deal with it.

And his starts with small, random skills.

When you start learning more skills you:

  • Build momentum

  • Become more capable

  • Start to feel like a Swiss army knife

  • Get regular dopamine from progress

  • And most importantly: You start to have fun again

Every new skill will make you more adaptable, give you more freedom, more confidence and more options.

You live life different when you know how to fight, cook, climb, juggle, fix shit, shoot a bow, play the piano, build a shelter, kill a chicken, backflip and pick locks.

I've learned how to juggle with three balls last week. Took my 3 days.

It was fun, didn't take much time and I got dopamine every time I improved a bit.

I learned a skill that is cool and is always good to have.

These skills stack.

Each one makes you better.

So here's how to start:

How to skillmaxxx

A skillmaxxing-sidequest contains a few things:

1. Pick one fun skill.

Doesn't need to be fancy. A small, fun, cool skill.

  • Juggling

  • Loud whistling

  • Lock picking

  • Backflipping

  • Knife throwing

Just pick anything you can think of.

2. Learn it.

Take 30 minutes to watch tutorials on the skill.

DO NOT take more time than that.

You'll fall into procrastination faster than you think.

Watch one or two videos, then start implementing.

Do it between work blocks. Before eating. Whenever you want to.

Sprinkle in practicing everyday.

When you hit a roadblock, THEN you can look up how to overcome it.

But most of the time it's just more practice until it clicks.

3. Use the win.

Once you get the skill, keep the momentum.

Stack the next one. Use the win to grow yourself.

Keep moving.

Lil challenge.

Pick one skill and learn it this month.

Do it.

This is how you move forward.

By doing shit.

No thinking.

No planning.

Doing.

Skillmaxxing turns a boring life into a fun game.

So get stacking skills.

Skillmaxxx.

Stay on the search for the truth.

Fabian.
